When I got the car it was already pretty low. Suspension seemed really hard but when I checked it out closer it was only becouse front suspension was bottoming out almoust all the time. I bought new shocks and installed stiffened volvo 200-series stw rear springs to replace the old ones. No real fitting was needed as they are the same diameter and fit to the original spring plates. They had to be cut shorter (originally 42cm) of course The first install was a dissappointment, car looked like a tractor. Springs had to be even shorter (28cm) and at this point shockabsorber shaft had to be shorter too. Spring was swinging loose. We did the job with an angle grinder, bench grinder and a thread tool :D.. We didn't have a turning lathe so you got to do what you can and use the tools that you have.. It needed some time and precision but finally the mainshaft (20mm) was grinded 35mm and longer M10 threads could be made.
I think I should have grinded 40mm so there would have been a little more pressure on the spring but it works anyway and the spring stays put. The car is almost as low as it was, maybe 1cm higher but I think it's fine this way. It used to be even too low as it was bottoming out with those old, cut and dead springs which it had. I recommend this process as it is cheap and fairly easy way to get somesort of an update to 127 suspension. My next task on this area is to buy 2-way bilstein gas shocks for the same springs. stock shocks are still stock, not the best possible solution for the track but you'll get pretty far with them too if they're new.
